Bells Rapids is a beautiful place of many canoeing and hiking opportunities.
Hike:
Buttock Boulder Hike- Goat Trail:
The hike to Buttock Boulder is an excellent, but more difficult hike of 3km, also known as the Goat Trail because of its steepness. The trail follows a steep gravel road, so make sure you wear shoes with good grip and don't walk too quickly along the path. Along the way you can see views of the rapids, huge clover fields, views of a distant waterfall, and, if you come at the right time, a large train passing through the area. Buttock Boulder is an appropriately named rock feature on the track.
River Trail:
The River Trail is an easier, 2.5km path, going alongside the rapids, including the crossing of a bridge. It is mostly flat, but includes a rocky section.

Beautiful views, great hiking trail, absolutely perfect.
Canoeing and Kayaking:
Once you've hired your canoe or kayak, head to Bells Rapids. As it says in the name, there are rapids here, so kayaking along here can be called white water kayaking. It is quite a long stretch of rapids and fast moving water, great for those seeking adrenaline. The last few winters, the rapids have been quite small as rainfall has been lower. This year though, 2016, winter promises to bring more intense rapids. It all depends on what you're looking for in kayaking. If you're looking for a calmer paddle, but with a few rapids to keep it exciting, it would be best to go when the rainfall has been low lately. But, if you're a thrill-seeker, going after recent heavy rain can result in lots of fast-paced rapids.
