Piney Lakes Reserve is 50ha of regenerated bushland, with a range of activities available.
Walking and Cycling:
Piney Lakes has a number of paths to stroll along. They aren't too difficult, but there are a few hills. It is also allowed for bikes and scooters to be on these paths.
Sensory Playground:
The Sensory Playground at Piney Lakes is a lot of fun for kids. There is a large climbing frame featured in the pictures above, as well as a sandpit, a pirate ship, a see-saw, swings, and a 'sound playground'. There is also space for parents to sit down and watch.
Frisbee, Catch: Piney Lakes is a great place to throw a tennis ball or frisbee around.
Dog Exercise Area:
Dogs are allowed here, but there are certain conditions. Because this is a reserve, there is a range of wildlife that can be hurt by dogs. Because of this, dogs must be on leads when walking through the bushland and on bitumen paths. Despite this, there is a large area of the park where dogs can run around off-leash.
Facilities:
Toilets, Barbecues, Water Fountains, Disabled Access, Free Parking, Environmental Education Centre (Not open to general public. Must be hired).
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Piney Lakes Reserve is a great park and playground. I didn't give it the full 5 Stars because the lake can loose some of its beauty when the water level is low, revealing bent reeds, litter and mud. As it is a dog park as well, there can be dog poop on the ground, which takes away from the experience. The playground is 5 Stars in my opinion, it's just a few points in the park that lowered the overall rating.
